Pinnacol Assurance Named a Finalist for U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s 25th Annual Citizens Awards

Denver, CO — Oct. 30, 2024 — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation named Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s top-performing workers’ compensation insurer, a finalist for Best Corporate Steward in the 25th Annual Citizens Awards, a long-standing program that honors businesses across the country for their leadership in solving the world’s biggest challenges. Pinnacol was nominated in the Large Business Category for its civic engagement and community stewardship.  

Through its corporate citizenship program, Pinnacol has invested over $7.2 million and 4,363 volunteer hours between 2020 and 2023 in a variety of initiatives that support workforce safety, injury recovery, economic vitality, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

Pinnacol's corporate and community stewardship includes:

  • Community grants: Pinnacol has awarded $1,697,041 in grants to nonprofits focused on workforce safety, injury recovery, and economic vitality.
  • Scholarships: The Pinnacol Foundation has awarded $7.4 million in scholarships to more than 800 students across Colorado.
  • Employee volunteerism: Pinnacol employees have volunteered 4,363 hours with local nonprofits.
  • Youth apprenticeship program: Pinnacol's nationally recognized apprenticeship program provides opportunities for young people, many from under-resourced schools, to gain valuable experience in the insurance industry. To date, Pinnacol has hired 16 apprentices, 81% of whom identify as BIPOC, for full-time positions.
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives: Pinnacol is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. The company has implemented a number of initiatives to support this goal, including employee resource groups, diversity training, and supplier diversity programs.
