Pinnacol Assurance’s Alicia Allen named Controller of the Year for Financial Stewardship Supporting Colorado Businesses and Workers

Denver, CO – Feb. 25, 2025 – The 2024 Controller of the Year Awards recently recognized Alicia Allen, Chief Accounting Officer and Assistant Vice President of Finance from Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s leading workers’ compensation carrier. This prestigious recognition from The Controllers’ Council celebrates Allen’s contributions to Pinnacol’s financial stewardship through thoughtful strategic planning, effective financial management and dividends for businesses to reinvest in the Colorado workplace. 

Because of Allen’s excellence in financial stewardship, Pinnacol has maintained an A- AM Best rating since 2015, demonstrating the capacity to provide industry-leading service which also yielded the highest satisfaction ratings from both injured workers and employers. Allen’s recognized stewardship includes:

• Overseeing financial operations for the Pinnacol Foundation Scholarship Program, which has awarded over 800 students nearly $7.4 million in scholarships.
• Building projections to restore Pinnacol’s stability post-Great Recession and positioning Pinnacol to support Colorado workers through the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Allowed Pinnacol to reinvest  $385 million in dividends to the Colorado workplace over the last eight years, directly supporting the growth and health of Colorado’s economy.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Allen is deeply committed to volunteerism and philanthropy. She serves on the Pinnacol Foundation Board and the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts Finance Committee and has led Pinnacol’s Women’s Leadership Employee Resource Group.
