DENVER, Nov. 20, 2018 — Employees of Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s leading workers’ compensation insurance carrier, take their corporate mission — “to lead a revolution in caring for the people, businesses and communities of Colorado” — very seriously, setting records in 2018 with their generosity. As part of an employee giving campaign that concluded this week, Pinnacol employees contributed to a record $286,676 that went to local nonprofits of their choosing. Pinnacol matched employee contributions dollar for dollar.
Pinnacol employees also support nonprofits through their annual monthlong volunteering program, called Pinnacol in Action (PiA) Days. More than 220 employees dedicated nearly 850 hours of their time in September and October. Employees organized 12 events, involving projects such as helping seniors with household maintenance and chores and tidying up public parks in the Denver area. Pinnacol volunteers worked with 11 nonprofits, serving families in need of emergency assistance, empowering school-age girls, providing families with locally grown produce and helping organize the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
Pinnacol’s employee giving campaign and PiA Days are both employee-led programs. Employees encourage each other to give, discuss their favorite charities and celebrate their collective impact together.
“Supporting the needs of Coloradans is in our DNA at Pinnacol,” said Edie Sonn, Pinnacol’s vice president of communications and public affairs. “We see how our caring approach makes the difference to the injured workers we support every day, and we’re proud to see our employees giving of themselves and enriching their communities through their generosity.”
